Fred Threatt, Founder — A lifetime of travel and coffee experience
Every Cup of Coffee begins with Love.
Coffee has been a constant companion throughout Fred's extraordinary life. A U.S. Marine veteran, Fred was born in the Philippines and raised in Japan, with a life that carried him across the globe: Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, Antarctica, and beyond. In every place, coffee was more than a beverage; it was a ritual, a comfort, and a connection to the people and cultures around him. From humble cups of chicory coffee in Louisiana to unforgettable brews enjoyed overseas, Fred developed a deep appreciation for coffee in all its forms.
Some of his most vivid memories come from the harshest environments. While deployed as a Marine in Vietnam, Fred remembers gripping a warm coffee cup in the cold mountain air, finding comfort, focus, and a moment of peace. Later, as a seaman aboard oil tankers in the Persian Gulf and the icy waters of Antarctica, those late-night cups of hot coffee became essential companions during freezing ocean watches.
At home, coffee took on an even deeper meaning. For over 50 years, Fred has made a cup of coffee for his wife every morning. She often says it never tastes the same when it's not made with love, and that belief became the heart of Threatt's Coffee.
Coffee has woven itself through every chapter of Fred's life. Today, he pours that same care, warmth, and intention into every bag of Threatt's Coffee. His mission is simple: to share the feeling of a truly great cup of coffee, the kind that warms your hands, grounds your day, and reminds you that the best things are made with love.
Farm to Cup
Great coffee begins long before it reaches your cup.
At Threatt's Coffee, we source high-quality beans from renowned coffee-growing regions around the world, including Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, Papua New Guinea, Madagascar, Sumatra, Bali, and beyond. Each origin is shaped by its climate, soil, and farming traditions, producing distinct flavor profiles that reflect the land and the people behind every harvest.
Once sourced, our beans are artisan roasted in Vallejo, California by Moschetti Artisan Roaster, a respected, family-owned specialty roastery led by Fabrice Moschetti. With a long-standing reputation for small-batch roasting and a commitment to organic and fair-trade coffees, Moschetti brings precision, experience, and care to every roast. Their dedication to quality ensures that each origin’s unique character is fully expressed in the cup.
After roasting, our coffee is carefully packaged and distributed through our San Martin, California operations, where we focus on freshness, craftsmanship, and community connection. From global farms to trusted local roasting partners, every step of our process is built on quality, transparency, and respect for the craft. The result is coffee that carries the story of its origin and the care of the people who bring it to life.
